The crew of the International Space Station will take part in a hide-and-seek tournament on 9 September, national space agencies have confirmed.
Following the decision to delay the return of three crewmembers in the wake of the Progress M-12M launch failure and with the prospect of a de-crewed ISS by November, a NASA spokesperson confirmed: “Ever since construction of the ISS began we’ve been talking about how awesome a venue it would be for hide-and-seek. Now, with construction complete, and with time on the astronauts’ hands, we can finally go ahead.”
Denying hide-and-seek was a frivolous waste of crew time, NASA said: “It’s also a learning experience for the crew and astronaut trainers on the ground. The crew might need to hide from attacking aliens one day, and this will be really informative in planning a hiding-from-aliens strategy.”
