Bit soon, and not really that funny.
Sorry.

I don't necessarily think it's too soon. But it's certainly not funny at all. sorry

It's never too soon on Newsbiscuit and judging by a lot of the shite that is currently hitting the front page it can't be that unfunny.
But hell at least someone read this sub.

Too soon. Take 5 stars & a restraining order. "-)
(Seriously, I'd like to think that even his wife could laugh at this!
Horrible as the accident was, and unimaginable as her loss surely is,
people in grief find solace wherever they can, and gallows humour might be
a great outlet in that regard: maybe moreso than the awkward concern or faux-outrage
of people who can't know what she is actually feeling!
Your sub does not disrespect his memory in any way, you didn't kill him,
and nothing will bring him back, so I say, why the fuck not?! Good onya Madj!)Posted 1 year ago # -
Yeah, nothing funnier than mocking a dead military pilot. Takes a lot of cleverness. I'm sure that I can speak for his family by calling you a talentless pice of sh-t.
Oh, just noticed. You spell as good as you write.

These are the people logged on when this got 5 stars. It obviously wasn't me.

Rikkor. I read the sub. The dead military pilot was not actually mocked. He was in fact simply used as a device for the ridicule of Muamar Gadaffi.
Given that he may have been on active service in the Middle east a few months ago, part of me thinks and hopes he might actually have approved!
But I can't know and assume nothing.Posted 1 year ago # -
Busted, Mr. 5 stars.

It was me. I gave my reasons. Feel free to disagree.

Good, please tell me when someone close to you dies in a horrible manner. I'll be the first to mock your grief. Is it a deal?

Who's grief was being mocked?
(My maternal family is from Dunblane by the way! I had relatives in that school. Only one was shot and she survived so I don't pretend to talk with any authority: But its like this. Jokes at the expense of the teachers and the kids were in bad taste. Jokes at the expense of Thomas Hamilton (you probably forgot who he was) were not.
But we used to joke within the family about my cousins child: 'Thank fuck she was a <redacted> so she knew to run like fuck at the first sign of trouble'. (she was very badly shot in the leg, but lived to fight anothet day).
far from disrespecting those involved, the (weak) humour allowed those of us affected a means to talk about the unspeakable, and acted as a means to normalise the horrendous. That's the beauty of humour)I don't see how this joke is at the expense of the pilot. He was just as brave whichever way the plane came down!
But you have your deal if you want it.

...but well done for smoking me out there Rikkor "-)
What was it that gave me away?
Clever use of your deductive reasoning: was it the way I posted that I'd awarded 5 stars to the sub (6 minutes before you gathered all of us suspects into the drawing room to begin a Poirot/Columbo style interrogation and unmasking of whichever bastard had awarded 5 stars) that gave you a clue?
"...and I'd have got away with it too if it hadn't been for you meddling kids!"

Always hilarious when Rikkor takes the moral high ground (when it suits him).
As Jammydodgers rightly pointed out this was a Gadaffi joke, wonder if anyone offers a ‘comedy reading course’You might not like my writing but AT LEAST I write ! You’ve never quite got your head round the purpose of this place. Oh sorry just noticed your Amy Whinehouse sub (corker ! I’m sure sure some stars will be along soon).
I’m a ‘talentless pice of sh*t’ and MY spellings crap… good to see wit is alive and well in the colonies.

Actually 'talentless pice of shit' 'spells as good as you write' is pretty fucking funny re-reading it!
And we dare to say Americans have no sense of irony? But unlike you bunch of cynics, I have a warm human heart beating in my chest, and I will give Rikkor the benefit of the doubt and say that this ironic outburst was deliberately crafted for comic effect. And I'd also like to commend Madj for his admirable restraint with this initial sub:
Had he said : "Al Megrahi defiantly claims credit for blowing up Red Arrow" that would probably have been crossing some boundaries.
But he didn't. So that's OK. Well done him!

"Al Megrahi defiantly claims credit for blowing up Red Arrow" I think I used that one for the Shuttle crash.... ooh that'll upset them over the pond.
