Lucky children in Mumbai have had 'a whale of a time' during the annual 'Take Your Children To Work' day in India today.
Offspring of workers at Mumbai's largest confectionery outlet jumped for joy at the chance to work in a so-called sweetshop for the day.
'I stuffed myself silly,' said Anjula Mekhit, 'I am so lucky my father works where he does. My friend Ninia has a mother who cleans the only municipal toilets for miles around. Her day will surely be less fun than mine.'
Daily Mirror readers were up-in-arms at the news, complaining about the Indian children being permitted to take a day away from manufacturing cheap Primark clothing in sweatshops, but were partly reassured when they were told it was the childrens' only day off for the entire year.
