The Daily Maul has slammed airline operators for being 'over cautious' in stopping flights because of the Iceland volcanic ash cloud. An editorial barks: "What sort of left wing softies run the airlines these days? Just because there is a remote chance that planes will drop out of the sky killing all those on board, our brave nationals are having to put up with intolerable conditions in all sorts of dreadful foreign places. Many plucky Brits have made it home, but the disruption looks set to continue on many different levels.
"Is this what made this nation great? Did we win two world wars only to be beaten by the weather? Is it not ironic that a country allegedly preoccupied with the weather should end up totally screwed by it?"
