New inflate-a-pool technology, that looks like an outdoor pool to Google Earth's satellite cameras, is helping recession hit Brits to keep up with the Cyber Jones in their twin towns.
'Croydon has got more swimming pools per head of population than California," lamented Johann Meesters, the Mayor of Croydon's dutch twin town, Arnhem. 'I am seeing it in a new light now."
Arnhem's burgers had debated dropping Croydon as its twin, after reports that the borough had let itself go and was becoming an embarrassment. But a new PR campaign, in which dummy pools were placed in every part of the borough, just as Google Earth's satellite cameras were passing over, convinced their Croydon Council's dutch petty snobbish counterparts to think again...
