Whatever they could find, obviously. I imagine looking back at any NotW scoop of recent times you could know what part was found out this way.

Going through the NotW archive for this period, the following headlines appear a bit suspicious, and could have been based on messages taken from Milly Dowler's phone:
"Parents concerned about missing daughter"
"Friends plead for missing girl to get in touch"
"Missing girl's friend is a total slag and might be pregnant reckons other friend"

"Missing girl's mum went to bingo last night as husband suggested it might help take mind off things"

Obviously, they were looking for comments pertaining to issues of national security, corruption in high places (Ben Nevis?) and gross criminality.

Gross criminality? "I would like 143 other offences to be taken into account".

A gross criminal is one who’s clinically obese, flatulent and given to onanism; in short, American.

'Father of missing girl reminded to buy toilet roll.'
