Writing this here to avoid a bump.
Although I enjoyed Oxy's recent sub, there were an awful lot of words that I had to read with my lips moving. Evidently it was extraordinarily well researched and made me feel like a buffoon. HOWEVER: There are a number of poor sentence constructions such as "thrashing a Scythian who was late bringing him wine with a bundle of sticks" which are inconsistent with such learned writing. (“Because of” should really be “owing to” but that would make me a real pedant). This has led me to believe that Oxy has a running bet to see how many obscure references he can fit in, rather than delivering the polished finished article.
So here’s the thing; is he being arrogant or just taking the piss?
...and anyway, Wimbledon finished ages ago.
