Late last night in the latest of a quite stunning sequence of announcements it has been revealed that, contrary to what many thought, Rupert Murdoch is actually from Australia and not from Norfolk.
Some have put the misunderstanding down to the similarities in language, others had thought that he might have been the product of one of Norfolk’s renowned “specialist breeding programs”.
Norwich City Council quickly reacted by putting their plans to rename Chapelfield Shopping Mall “The Murdoch Centre for Innovation” on indefinite hold (pending DNA analysis results anyway).
However, earlier this morning the mystery deepened when the Australian Government denied any knowledge of the family, claiming that “they want nothing to do with them … troublemakers”, adding that Australia has struggled for many years to develop it’s reputation and did not intend to have all that work destroyed by one family.
