The single is set to be released this week which marks the end of the summer term. ‘Working 9 to 3’ is a re-working of her classic 1981 hit ‘9 to5’, it is hoped that the release will raise awareness and much needed funds for the many teachers who are facing drastic changes to their pension schemes.
Dolly was drawn to the teacher’s plight when she was over here in June when the one day strike was held. The strike on the 30th June saw thousands of teachers having an extra day off on top of their usual 13 weeks holiday, to protest about changes to teacher’s pension schemes, which will see them working for longer, paying more into the pension and getting less money when they do retire.
The teachers unions behind the one-day strike have welcomed the high-profile backing in support of their cause. A spokesperson for The National Union of Teachers said ‘this is a great boost to our members who are soon to be facing a long summer without work out for six whole weeks!
One government minister in support of the planned changes to the pension scheme however, has no sympathy with the striking teachers and said ‘I hope they choose to spend this time sitting quietly and thinking about their actions and how their behaviour doesn’t just affect themselves but everybody else around them’.

I love this, 5 stars.
May I be bold enough to suggest para 2 could end
"which will see them working longer, and paying more into thier gilt edged final salary pension schemes"

Excellent. Perhaps something in there from NUT along the lines of ".. many teachers will have to cope on their pensions for 30 years or more, so it is essential there is no reduction in benefits."??
n.b please don't let my wife [that'll be the teacher] know about this

But... Pedants' Corner, flouncers welcome:
The single, a re-working of her 1981 classic ‘Nine to Five’, is to be released this week to coincide WITH the end of the summer term. If the Editor's going to risk flouncing, he could at least take the trouble to master the language. I blame the teachers.
Load of bollocks anyway - the school where my missus teaches doesn't set the little bastards free until 3.15.Posted 1 year ago # -

Bloody good as a ticker alone. BTW this reminds me: I've recently replaced saying "Does the pope shit in the woods?" in favour of "does Dolly Parton sleep on her back?" which I shall continue to use until something better comes along.
