Sources close to Home Secretary Theresa May have revealed that it is now certain that the Met will be brought back into public ownership. With the summer recess about to begin it is likely that emergency legislation will be laid before parliament within the next few days. "You can't lose a major funding stream like News International and expect to survive in today's challenging economic climate" said an insider at New Scotland Yard this morning.
