So I got the ticker first, followed by an entry in the Top Ten (8th, if you're keeping score). And today I spiked my flag in my first NiB (although to be honest it was heavily edited and most of the flimsy jokes removed. The headline is about the only survivor. Shame about the 'Free Houses' gag, I liked that one). Just the FP to go then.... I don't mind admitting I'm surprisingly chuffed to have crept in amongst your talents. Thanks for putting up with me.
Oh God, what If I'm the NB's 'Andy Murray' - destined to see the final hurdle but always fall and smash open my chin on it? The psychology of this is destructive....
Anyway, personal moment over, back to work.

Exciting, isn't it! And congrats!

I got a ticker today after about 4 months in the wilderness. I can't explain my excitment! Mind you I rarely remember to read the front page so I may have been much more succesful than I thought.

Well done Mr P. I have to admit my joy at getting an NiB a couple of weeks back was completly disproportionate to the actual achievment. In fact it still puts a smile on my face now. I can't imagine what will happen if I get an FP.

Thanks, thought it may just be me. Which suggests that there are some blokes in a room somewhere who created this shaking their head and going 'Fuck me! Someone actually cares about this shit? Who'd have thought.'

Believe it or not i've had two FP's in my NB time and that would suggest that if I can do it then anyone can.
Well done Mr Payne. Keep it up.

Keep going at it mr payne and the first FP will come along too.
Apparently the progression is supposed to be ticker - NiB - FP. I got things wrong and started with a few FPs, then a couple of NiBs, and finally a ticker, which I was disproportionately pleased to get, because I don't do one-liners well.

Wait until you've had a "You Used to be Funny" from Rikkor.
that's a great honour.

Once again, thanks for the kind words. I need to point out that I am now 5th in the 'Top Ten', just to avoid any accusations of journalistic inaccuracy based on my earlier comments, you understand. And I also need to amend my Woo Hoo! 3 out of 4! to Woo Hoo! 4 out of 5!! I got a tweet with my headline as well, so almost like the holy trinity, but with a couple more added on, I'm still one short of the divine 5.
I thank you.Posted 1 year ago # -
Top 3 now if you're still keeping count.

You bee yooouuteeee!! Unexpected joy and cartwheels. Is top spot a dream too far......? (Although how the hell it is moving about is anyone's guess....)

If you quickly 1-star the 2 posts above it then it might make number 1...
Not that I'm advocating that approach at all you understand.

Mr Payne, I've noticed that you have an impressive vocabulary for a deputy headteacher.

You can learn a lot from children.

I think you'll find it's supposed to be the other way round.

Not in inner city Birmingham.... and I've decided to go for a career change now anyway. I am now a semi-professional wrestler.

Same thing, isn't it?

School Kid's in Birmingham get a choice between detention or three rounds with the Undertaker as punishment these days.
