After the successful sale at auction of a leather jacket worn by US singer Michael Jackson in his renowned Thriller video selling for $1.8m (£1.1m) it's believed that the benefitting charity will further profit from Jackson memorabalia when parts of his face will be put up for auction next month.
'As most of his face had become all plastic and not able to bio-degrade in the grave, Jackson's next of kin thought that it would be a good idea to have it removed just in case it might be of some value one day' explained Theo Birkitt, cheif auctioneer of Julien's Auction in Beverly Hills. ' After the leather jacket went so well last week it appears that day has now come so we are preparing another sale to sell off his facial features'.
Although each individual part of Jacko's plastic fizzog will be sold off seperately, potential buyer's maybe interested to know that Julien's Auctions would consider a discount on their sale commission for anyone prepared to buy the full face which would have to be at least the nose, ears, cheeks, chin and mouth.
'We would also expect the forehead to go for less due to fire damage received about twenty years ago but apart from that we believe the face is complete and in good condition' finished Birkitt.
Julien's are hoping the auction will go ahead sometime next week but they are still waiting for Fulham football club in England to release Jackson's face who are currently using it as the face of their new statue of him outside their Craven Cottage ground in London. 'They can have it just as soon as we get the replacement from Disney Stores ' said a Fulham spokesman 'they might have to wait a bit because production has been held up due to Jackson's ex cosmetic surgeon being on holiday and unable to finish it'.
