I nearly met Roy Barraclough, AKA Alec Gilroy from Coronation Street, in Malvern last Saturday. We had just seen him on 'Corrie!' on stage and apparently he was wandering about a bit disconcerted because the stage door had closed on him. We thought about saying hello but decided not to bother.

My mate's ex-girlfriend saw Gordon Ramsey standing out the back of his restaurant, either getting some air, having a crafty fag or swearing at the wall, can't remember which, and shouted "Gordon!! GORDON!!! GOOOORRRRRRDOONNNNNNNN!!!!!" while waving like a mentalist. He gave a little wave back and looked a little bit scared. She then spent the rest of the day saying "Gordon Ramsey waved at me".

Oh I forgot.
Many years ago I flew as a passenger in a light plane flown by a family friend who was doing the necessary hours to keep his Pilot's Licence valid.
We flew from Bridlington Yorkshire to Clacton-on-Sea, and back.

There's a guy lives near me who is the absolute double of Sean Connery, but quite a bit shorter. He drinks in our local and is renowned for pretending to be Sir Sean to chat up the ladies.
About 18 months ago, I was in fits at the crowds of older ladies who were huddled around him, when one of the other blokes there stood up and walked over to the bar. He shouted back over his shoulder, "What'll you have to drink?" and the actual Sean Connery stood up and pushed his way through the hordes to stand beside Mr B and I to choose his drink.
Mr B almost wet himself with the excitement of standing beside his hero.

I'm not famous but I'd be all in favour of shooting people who did that. What the hell is wrong with some people?
I have met some very famous people, chatted to them normally and told no-one (including the wife) that I've met them or what was discussed.
This is why I'll never be editor of the "News of the World" clearly...
John, I'd be with you on that one. I don't understand the obsession with celebrity, they're just people like anybody else, who happen to be on TV or be good at sport or something. I don't know why people go all funny about it.
One of my mates was out drinking with Neil Lennon and I rang him for something, he told me he was drinking with Neil Lennon and before I could tell him not to, handed him the phone. What followed was possibly the most awkward 20 second conversation of my life, because I wasn't interested in talking to him, and he clearly wasn't interested in talking to me either, but we both tried to be polite about it.

Actor Robert Morley told me it was rude to point after I nearly poked his eye out after pointing him out to my friend in Harrods about 25 years ago.
Wasn't intending to be so rude but between the time that I had noticed him between the time that I was explaining to my friend who was behind us, he'd got a lot closer hence my pointing finger being no more than a inch or two from his face by the time my long lanky adoloscent arm was swinging around to point him out.
I'll never forget the look of total distain he gave me as I mumbled my apology.

This is true...
Once got a little badge formally presented to my spotty junior self by Prince Michael of Kent. Being a total bumpkin, I gorged on canapés and marvelled at the ever-refilling champagne flute. I was soon wankered. When I was plopped in front of the man to get my badge, he asked my name, and I couldn't work out the answer. But I remembered, just in time to use it as the answer to his second question. This happened for the next 4 questions. Fortunately, he seemed to find it amusing.

I had an amorous encounter with a famous actress in the back of a Tunisian cab on the way to a Djerba fashion shoot.
But not quite as unimpressive as being told off by a pompous twat with ideas waaaaaay above his station on this site. A man of such infinitesimal talent, ability, perspicacity and sagacity that he felt entitled to misspell 'encounter' on the title of this thread.
Oh, and lunch with Michael Winner. How could I forget that...?

When I was 11 I went on a school trip to big old scary London, and we went to see 'Cats'.
I had a seat at the end of the aisle, and had a large bite taken out of my Crunchie by Brain Blessed, and some Opal Fruits pinched by Paul Nicholas.

A slightly shorter one. My mum was the admissions secretary at a posh London girls school and thus got to show Errol Brown of Hot Chocolate around when he wanted to send his daughters there. He jammed with Bob Marley, as evinced by numerous clips o the web, and he met Haile Selassie.
