Hi
I haven't posted here for quite some time but I had to "come out of retirement" as it were, because I've had a great idea (even if I say so myself LOL) for a sub. But I need collaborators to help me move it on.
I thought, what with it being Wimbledon and everything, "what about a piece which plays the way the media refer to Andy Murray as British when he's winning -but as Scottish when he loses?"
Whaddya think?

You might be on to something there. If we can pad it out to 300 to 400 words...
I have some time on my hands, as it happens...

Great idea but surely he's not going to lose.

Damn - there's always a flaw.

Oh Mr Chigley.
Not only was Seymour Totti there before you, but Bwahaha turned the annual gag into a NiB.
Yours encouragingly, your friendly neighbourhood NB archivist.

OK, two flaws.
I'll be off then.Posted 1 year ago # -
Zadok - When you claim you are an archivist, are you one of those two gents in "I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue" who get regular visits from the lovely Samantha?
With regards to the annual Andy Murray gag, it's a bit like watching someone slip over on the ice. You get the overwhelming desire to throw your hands in the air and shout "Wayhey"!!

might be a nice twist to reveal that Murray is actually English, and possesses the Henman gene
Plus, apart from his bank balance, what does his girlfriend (who is seriously good looking) see in him ...

I'd like someone to collaborate with, as I'm finding it easier to flesh out other peoples' ideas than think up news ones (oh f**k off Salty) but I fear this particular one has been done to death. Even Murray himself made a reference to it on a Comic Relief skit.

Oxy, I've got a list of about 40 ideas for stories that I'm consistently not getting round to writing up. If you want some of them you're more than welcome to them. I will warn you now though that most of them are shit. Which probably explains why I haven't bothered writing them up myself and keep doing whatever else pops into my head instead.

Just goes to show it's a good idea.
Is this a clue as to why the English FA wants the other home nations to take part in the Olympic football - if we win, well done Team GB; if we lose it's the Scots' fault?

Okay, okay, let's forget the Andy Murray idea. It doesn't matter - I'm inspired at the moment.
I'm sure I read somewhere that all Scottish people have a passion for deep-fried Mars bars (OMG can you imagine LOL!). How about combining that with this story on the BBC Scottish Cocaine Use?
How about "Scots biggest users of deep-fried cocaine" or something?Posted 1 year ago # -
...unless you had Andy Murray playing against a Frenchman.
then the joke could be that the Frenchman surrendered!

Like the hard pressed middle class English tax payer of course.

What - do the French have a bit of a reputation then?Posted 1 year ago # -
I have stolen ideas from you all. Ha

I think this is really about the elephant in the room.

I'm a bit lost. Does Andy Murray drive a BMW?
Posted 1 year ago # -
Yeah, sorry about that Des.
It was an anniversary present from Quaz.Posted 1 year ago # -
What, a BMW?

Erm, well, yeeees.

Try the French. They're usually up for it.
