The flamboyant One Show reporter Gyles Brandreth, has been diagnosed with gesticular cancer.
The 63-year-old former Conservative MP broke the news during last night’s episode – moving presenter Alex Jones to crocodile tears.
He will now disappear from our television screens for at least three months, as he undergoes straight-jacket therapy.
Coincidentally, his announcement came on the very same day that Cancer Research UK launched their new “Stay alive! Keep your hands by your side!” campaign.
Commenting on Brandreth’s diagnosis, the charity’s Dr Sandra McKay warned: “Recreational gesticulation carries low risk, but when you start waving your arms around every time you speak – your health and social standing will inevitably suffer!”
