David Cameron has vowed to make the law on what constitutes reasonable force when defending your home easier to understand. This will be done with a comprehensive list of possible scenarios explaining how far a homeowner could go to defend themselves and their property.
If the intruder is unarmed then hitting them repeatedly round the head with a cricket bat will be seen as excessive, however a couple of swift kicks in the knackers will be ok.
If the intruder is armed with a knife then defending yourself with a cricket bat would be seen as reasonable, however spraying oven cleaner in their eyes, removing their testicles with a rusty bread knife before re-attaching them to their forehead with a nail gun, would still be seen as excessive.
If the intruder is an absent father or drink-driver then they're fair game and anything will be deemed reasonable force.
