Dignitas is to open a new chain of care homes for the elderly under the brand name Indignitas.
'This is to reflect reality,' said the chairman of Indignitas Sharon Shoesmith. 'I have been chosen to head up Indignitas due to my proven track record of ensuring people allegedly in my care die with the maximum pain, and then getting vast heaps of money for myself.'
'And that's exactly what we have here. We've got a range of homes across the country where the elderly will come and be treated in the way that I treated Peter Connelly. And for that I and my staff get money delivered by huge container lorries.
'People are so stupid these days that they're bound to sign up. And if they don't, I'll pay social workers to get them committed to my homes.
'Our motto is: You don't have to be so sick that you want to make vast piles of money out of vulnerable people - actually, you do!'

I slipped away from my wife's bed at the clinic for a quiet word with the doctor. I asked him, "How soon after the procedure will I be able to make love with my wife?"
He replied, "Do you know, that's the first time I've ever been asked that, in all the years I've worked at Dignitas."

Big fan of sharon shoesmith aren't you? I can't understand why you don't like her...
Like the saying goes - don't hate the player, hate the game. And the player. And anybody that says that. Oh fuck

I don't know her personally, I have to admit. However, what I really really object to is the way that she, as a well-paid director of social services, has consistently denied any responsibility for the death of Peter Connelly. She was HEAD of the department - she was paid LOTS OF MONEY to run a department the purpose of which was to CARE FOR PEOPLE. Furthermore, she is now in line for a large pay-off resulting from the death of Peter. The woman has no conscience or morals if she accepts a penny of that.
And you wonder why I have a go at her?

I wasn't seriously questioning why you don't like her, totally agree with everything you have said.
I don't understand how, if you career is damaged as a result of you being crap at your job, you can then claim compensation for it. Surely you'd have to sue yourself?

The culture in local authority is that no-one is responsible for anything - it's all Someone Else's Fault.
So Sharon Shoesmith will blame the local authority (as do the rest of us, for having hired her in the first place), and make heaps of cash out of them for wrongly sacknig her just because she's useless. That's not an acceptable reason to fire anyone in local government (I should know).
