   Why is it taking so long to announce the Mug of the Month for May? Could it be those in charge are deliberating over the cost of shipping the crockery down to the antipodes?

   Or has the Ed taken a leaf out of FIFA's book and is waiting to see which brown envelope carries the most influence? If that's the case then we can probably look forward to seeing Qatar as writer of the month for May.

   All seems mighty queer to me.

   Oh yes, and here's something fishy as promised.

   Apologies for keeping you all in suspense - we have had several changes to the judging line-up, but we can now finally reveal that the NET panel consists of Sepp Blatter, Popeye from Britain's Got Talent and Howard off the Halifax ads. An announcement regarding May WoM will follow shortly. Certainly before July.

   I'm still waiting for my mug from January. Although I understand that under the new WoM rules you now need to make a 'modest donation' of £100,000 and offer the editor a free holiday in Ventnor.
