The traditionally outspoken Michael O’Leary, owner of Ryanair, has today spoken out angrily about further cancellations of his airlines’ flights. Ina television interview he explained “we went up in one of our aircraft earlier today and flew around and never saw any Iceland whatsoever. And without Iceland there can be no Icelandic volcano. It’s all a big myth to destroy our profits. If Iceland existed we would have seen it … and we didn’t”. However, the CAA was quick to point out that savings in the airline operations mean that they now carry virtually no navigation equipment and would were in fact lucky to even find any airport to land at”. Meanwhile, Police are advising motorists to avoid the M62, which is currently suffering long delays due to an unexpected large vehicle blocking all lanes in both directions.
