Despite my obvious comic genius ;) seems that a lot of my contributions either don't get read or garner much interest. Was just wondering if there is a peak time for people visiting the forum so I can get feedback and comment before things go stale. For example, are you all evening birds? At your funniest at 8am or perhaps relieving afternoon boredom in the office?

This is based purely on how it seems to me and with no actual evidence to back it up, but I find that people tend to log on early-ish in the morning, presumably as they get to work, then log off and do some work before logging back in at lunch time. Then it gets quiet through the afternoon and evening as people have other things to keep them occupied once they've left work for the day. But with a flurry of activity from a few people who are committed to the newsbiscuit cause. Or really don't have anything better to do on an evening.
So posting around now should mean that the lunchtime lot see your post, and might even give it stars and comment on it.

I've tried the lunchtime posting a few times and often get no stars, now this could be because my submissions are not funny, but I think late afternoons, weekday evenings are best. That said two of my last 3 tickers has no stars before they became tickers and only gained peer approval and slagging off afterwards.

I think quite a lot of stuff gets no stars because people tend to give positive ratings or no ratings. Or just not to bother reading everything. And if it's a one-liner you can read it all without clicking on it, so you don't get as far as giving it stars without creating extra work for yourself.
And it also seems that there isn't always a connection between getting good comments and ratings and getting your stuff used. I've had posts get some nice comments and good ratings and never get used, and others sink without a trace only to turn up on the FP a couple of days later.

Thanks guys - looks like it's true that comedy is all about the timing!

Don't forget that this site only has 5 unique hits monthly. So, don't beat yourself up.

There's never a good time.

Yeah. Best not to bother.

If you click on private message at the top it lists who is on at that moment. Often you will find you are alone. I know how you feel when absolute shining gems just drift into oblivion.

Might I suggest you downgrade your browser to Internet Explorer Version 6. All of the stars will be blank - all of them - all of the time - always blank.
That way you needn't ever worry ever again over your comedic capabilities, and you can stop beating yourself up.

I think it may do with how hungover most NB writers are.
