In a surprise move, the pope has moved to outflank his outspoken critics by suggesting the installation of a new panic button on all clergy.
Whilst the Vatican had held out for some time saying that their internal procedures were perfectly adequate for alerting the church to any potential grooming behaviour, this turn around has caught many by surprise.
"Its not so much a button, as a badge." said a spokesman. "A big red round badge with a nice friendly writing on it, that says we are happy to help".
The distribution of these along side large jars of lollipops has left some doubting the sincerity of the move however.
