Doctors at Kings College hospital have today revealed that the Lambeth Walk, the cheeky cockney strut made popular by a 1937 musical is actually advanced rickets caused by poor diet and inner city deprivation.
"We have long suspected that the pre-war musical 'Me and my girl' to be a propaganda piece written to persuade the suffering masses that walking with your legs apart and the need to hook your finger in your braces is not only normal but cool." claimed Dr Siah Nintinga.
Suspicions were raised at the inclusion in the song of the pain filled expression 'oi!' after each rendition.
"Rickets is extremely painful," explains Dr Nintinga, "and believe me if you've been walking like that for a few minutes you'd be shouting 'oi!'
