It has now emerged that following last week’s local elections and AV referendum another sitting MP has obtained a super-injunction to prevent him being named as the Leader of the Liberal Democrat Party and Deputy Prime Minister. Reporting restrictions prevent us from identifying the politician concerned but following the super-injunction obtained by Sir Fred Goodwin earlier this year preventing him being identified as a banker, it would seem that such legal moves preventing a person being associated with a career are becoming more common place.
As has become standard practice, following the news that another politician had taken out a super-injunction, other politicians were quick to register their distaste at these moves. Speaking on the Sunday TV political show, Mr. Clegg was quick to resolve to end such legal gagging orders and stated his intent that Parliament should make privacy laws rather than the Judges.
