Always looking to expand and improve technology in different areas Apple today announced it was moving into the sanitary business by implementing a new touch toilet, the iPoo. Steve Jobs talking at the press release said "At Apple we have done many big jobs in the past and now the time was coming to handle them". The actual release date of the iPoo is yet to be firmed up.
The iPoo is the first of a long line of initiatives where Apple are attempting to see how far marketing can actually go. An engineer was quoted as saying "We were in a meeting and a colleague said 'Its like polishing a turd!'. This led to the idea that we could actually sell them!" Marketing experts at Apple feel that now is a very powerful time for the letter 'i'. We saw a huge advancement and sales during the 'e' period with terms such as eCommerce. 'i' still has the potential to run further before we move to 'o'. Although the R&D department are currently experimenting with the letter 'a' with 'aPhone' currently being viewed as too generic.
During the press release Mr Jobs demonstrated the connectivity with the iPad by actually flushing the toilet using the iPoo app. The main competitor in this market appears to be the Japanese. A spokesman for the Japanese company Hi Pan said "We thought we had Apple beaten but like a log that won't flush they keep coming back!"
Although not directly affected Microsoft did not feel the competition stating that they having been producing crap for years and have firm control of this market and that the Apple move is just a flash in the pan.
The chinese are already reported to have obtained plans to copy apple and reports are that the iPooh are already on sale on the black market.
