Lots of people on the news at the moment celebrating like Bin Laden's death is the end of terrorism. Might not the fact that the US have flown into a Muslim country without permission to kill an extremist hero just reinforce the anti-Western feelings of scores of suicide-bombers-in-waiting?

Good politcally (watch out for Obama's approval rating improving), but good for the war on terror..?

Nah! I can see why you'd say that, but I think you're wrong.

Anyone who was under the influence of OBL will surely have had their confidence shaken by this strong message of resolve, and will stop doing terrorism, or at least cut down on it.

If the CEO of a company dies does that mean the company ceases trading? May be a more hard line radical leader will step forward and more people could be radicalised by the actions? Still it does explain why Wills and Kate postponed their Honeymoon.

Well, I think you're forgetting to factor in that these people are evil cowards, and that they will now see that justice will be done. I'm pretty sure they will do a lot less terrorism and do a lot more democracy from now on.

As a radical atheist I plan to blow up something.

The real blow against Al Qaeda was not so much the death of OBL (although it will be hugely disappointing to them), but how the masses in northern Africa have completely ignored their cause and opted to demand (something closer to) western-style democratic reforms in their countries.

I'm in America right now. From what I can see, no-one here imagines for a second it's the end of terrorism, though they celebrated of course.
