It is however inaccurate, as anyone who actually watches Al Jazeera will know - the channel is seen very much as a champion of the pro-democracy revolutions in the mideast (which is why Gadaffi hates it so much).
It is actually a very good news channel, and one of the few places I would look to see a genuinely impartial view of world affairs.
Still, that doesn't stop people in the west getting confused about it. Making jokes about it here is harmless fun. When the Americans drop a bomb on their TV station, not so harmless.

I think benjball’s contention was an assumption that MADJEZ was implying that Al Qaeda and Al Jazeera share the same ideology. Which they don’t. They are, in fact, one of the most reliable and unbiased news sources operating in the region. Which isn’t saying much I admit, but they’re certainly no worse than Fox, on the other side of the coin.
If MADJEZ did mean to imply this, he’s wrong. If he didn’t (and this assertion certainly isn’t explicitly contained in the header) then I see nothing wrong with it. I would worry though that it might propagate the idea that us westerners see Al Qaeda and Al Jazeera as synonymous; a position that could indeed be described as ignorant at best.
Well, I say ‘worry’, but I actually only give the smallest of shits if truth be told.

Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't most if not all the Bin Laden tapes/videos released through Al Jazeera (presumably as it was the only local global TV station that was't state run). The first we in the west heard of Al Jazeera (and most of the subsequent media interest) has been over these tapes. HENCE the headline.
