Prince Harry has denied that the announcement, two days before his brother's wedding, that he might climb Everest, has been motivated by younger sibling jealousy.
"It's true", he protested, "I might climb Everest. I am also thinking of training as an astronaut and talks are at an advanced stage with Manchester United about me filling in as goalkeeper next season."
Harry has also said that regrettably he will have to attend the wedding on Friday in a bright orange RNLI boiler suit as he is going to be on call for volunteer lifeboat duty that day. "It is unfortunate, there was a mix up when they drew up the rota. I thought the wedding was going to be on the Saturday so said I would be free all day. I don't want to let them down now so I will just have to leave my beeper on and be prepared to run out halfway through."
Clinical Psychologist Dr James Mellor said that Harry is displaying classic sibling jealousy. "It must be very difficult for him. His brother is going to be King of England one day, can you imagine what it must have been like to grow up trying to compete with that? And now the entire nation is focussed on his older brother's wedding, it is hardly surprising that he feels the need to make people notice him. Unfortunately this doesn't always manifest itself in the most positive form."
There is also some consternation around Harry's +1 who will be accompanying him to Westminster Abbey. "Trixie-Marie is a very special woman", said Harry of the 6 foot 4 Puerto Rican transsexual he met whilst on holiday in Las Vegas last month. "I think that people are worried that she will upstage the bride, that can be the only motivation for this campaign being waged against her" he told reporters. "We are thinking of having children together" he quickly added.
It is understood that Royal aides have warned him off performing any 'lurid acts' with her on the balcony to deflect attention from the first kiss between William and Kate.
