Stephen Gerrard his wife Alex Curran, and the entire Liverpool squad and their WAGs have expressed their delight at being invited to a street party to celebrate the royal wedding.
'On a Friday I'm normally at home with Alex, perhaps watching our 56 inch LCD 3D TV, and admiring the contents of our safe where we store all her valuable jewellery, so a day out will make a lovely change' said the Liverpool player.
Lucas Leiva also expressed his delight with the invitation to the exclusive party 'We're all invited to the same party at the same time and it will be great to meet all my friends. I would normally be washing my Bentley but the organiser of the event even suggested I bring it along, leave him the key and he will have it valeted. Just unbelievable kindness."
Dirk Kuyt also expressed and surprise at the impromptu invitation 'The people of Liverpool have been so generous over the years, and to be invited to this event by Mr Mouse, or as he prefers to be called Mickey, is indeed an honour, and will make a change from admiring my collection of priceless classical paintings on such an important date.'
To protect the location of the event and minimise press intrusion the organisers have adopted the code-name for the venue as 'Sunset Boulivard' and the name of the real venue will be sent by text message to attendees 90 minutes after they have left their homes.
