Speculation in the press that PM Daid Cameron may make a break with protocol and attend the Royal Wedding dressed as a rabbit is increasing following revelations that a request to this effect has been issued by the Duke of Edinburgh.
The Queen and the Duke first met the primeminister when he was a schoolboy appearing in a play with their son Edward and even then the young statesman did not fail to make an impression. The Duke is said to have welcomed him to the palace for his investiture with the words "Liz, Liz! It's bunny boy!" before dashing off to find a carrot. Rumour has it that the PM often finds lettuce leaves and straw left out for him when he visits the Queen.
