Sponsers, Hovis, which described its Norfolk customer base as "big in breads", pronounced themselves "very satisfied and very relieved" after the Right Rev. Dr. David Spooner, Diocesan Bishop of Norwich, successfully overcame his unfortunate speech impediment to present the prestigious BAFTA award, sponsored by the company, to the 20 stone star of the show. Dr Spooner delighted the audience when asked "Who amongst us cannot say that we have some "Big" Ted Rogers in our own families?"
A Hovis insider also admitted privately that they'd got off lightly when the audience seemed not to notice when the doctor went on to describe how "the show hutches our tarts and that we all love to see how Ted reaches out and touches some of the members of his audience - and how his effect on the ladies makes..... more swoon".
BAFTA were, last night, remaining light-tipped.
