Chaos developed today after Muslims Against Crusades, a radical Islamist group, announced their intention to hold a demonstration outside Westminster Abbey during the forthcoming royal wedding ceremony. Shortly after the announcement, The English Defence League, a far-right anti-Islamist protest group, stated their intention to hold a simultaneous counter-demonstration, which prompted Unite Against Fascism, an anti-fascist pressure group, to threaten a counter-demonstration; the newly formed Unite Against Unite Against Fascism then retaliated by inviting members to a counter-counter-counter-demonstration...

Etc. etc. etc.

Good stuff. If this is in response to my suggestion then I'm going to 'borrow' some of it when I have a crack at writing something. If it's nothing to do with my suggestion then great minds etc

Great minds indeed, hadn't seen your post! Feel free to borrow away. I wasn't sure if it'd be funnier to have just MAC and EDL counter-protesting at each other's counter-protests - possibly a story about EDL desperately seeking to recruit more protesters to make sure they were always keeping one counter-protest ahead, perhaps?

Then again, it's kind of fun having them all involved too :)

Pete hadn't seen mine as it was in the chat room, just a case of similar idea, similar time. As he actually made the effort to write something rather than just posting a vague idea, and I still haven't done it despite saying I was going to borrow heavily from his, I'd say it's a well deserved NIB.

It made a very good NiB in the end and neither Pete H nor VCG had any recollection of, or subliminal influence from, my one-liner, which was a ticker circa 5 Feb. Just saying.

I'm very happy for VCG to be co-credited, or indeed for him to re-write it and get full credit. I didn't actually write the last paragraph of the News in Brief article either - whose was that? Like it.

Love the abacus manufacturer line too!
