NSD; agreed.
All the best,

BTW, far from being the case that most satirists are from the left the majority from Horace to Kingsley Aims via Pope and Swift could, I think, be called disappointed conservatives. That is to say their critique of contemporary life is that of the traditionalist if not reactionary. It's only in the last 30 years the 'alternative' has crowded out this in the media. The former is still there, you just won't find it on the BBC.

The problems with politicians of all shades may be best summed up by something I once read, possibly in Utopia. To paraphrase poorly, it stated that those who would seek to become politicians should be barred from doing so as they exactly the kind of people you don't want running your country.
Discuss.

Ollie,
not a million miles from my own view, but I don't have time to discuss it. Hope someone else does.Posted 7 years ago # -
@Ironduke...
It's more like your Dad sitting you down alongside your other 7 siblings and explaining that
"pocket money will be reduced from £5 to £4 a week each except for Hugo, who despite being the one who burned down the family orchard, will still get £100 a week because he himself contributes £20 a week to the running of the family home, far more than the rest of you, if we cut his pocket money he might move out and we'd all be out of pocket."
"Agnes, you won't get the extra £10 we pay you to look after Nanna either, we can probably stop paying you that because someone will look after her for free no doubt, maybe the church will help out."
"Becky, you'll have to buy your own inhaler now as well. Quite why we ever bought the refills for you in the first place I will never know, we didn't buy them for your brothers and sisters and they never complained, so now you'll have to get your own."and occassionally your Mum chips in a says "I agree with everything you Dad says, if only we had something to disagree on then perhaps the sex would be more passionate and/or you would be able to tell us apart."
With next doors Dad saying that he'd have done exactly the same thing but ever so slightly less, but he'd say it in such a way as to make it sound like everyone would be getting ice cream and a pony.
or something...

Oh dear, what have I started...?
Posted 7 years ago # -
you started it - it's up to you to put this right Oxy... a few off the cuff risque remarks about ethnic groups or a few inserted pages of your "further adventures of the prophet mohammed" full colour comic - should do the trick and get this thread removed.

thisisall1word...love the 'burning down the family orchard'. Point taken regarding blessed Hugo in the child distribution, but fair to say that top rate tax payers getting a hammering too~ though why we don't have a flat tax and narrower salary gap I don't know.
Point still holds regarding the next door family taking out the extra credit cards though...corneto and falabellas all round!Posted 7 years ago # -
Can I just say how much I liked today's FP?

The only thing Labour ever did for this country was creating a Nanny state.
Now, I'm all for a Nanny state, as long as it's Swedish female, with long blonde hair, big baps and up for a bit of fun in the hay.

It's just you.

thisisall1word I'd give you five stars if I could.

@virtuallywill - Thankfully that ASBO is still in place so keep your stars to yourself. You can give them to charity if you like; I believe Rikkor still posts on the other board...

Pity you can't vote for a dictator. North Africa had stability and growth for 30 years or so. OK so a few people dissapeared or got beaten up but surely that's a small price to pay.
