Angry scenes were witnessed today outside Aintree racecourse for todays Grand National as members of the general public failed to gain entry to the course because the capacity had already been taken up by a large number of celebrities.
'This is just typical' fumed frustrated race goer Tom Bellingham from Bootle 'i've been coming to this meeting for the last thirty years and now their telling me I can't get in because of the likes of Jedwood and bloody Sue Pollard are getting preferencial treatment because they are vaguley famous'.
The crowd outside became especially hostile as from behind the gates they saw Andy Peters and former failed olympic ski jumper Eddie Edwards walk into their site.
As the two of them walked by the angry crowd charged at the locked gate with such force and venom Peters was seen to run for his life fearing being killed in the stampede.
Fortunately the gates held strong but it didn't stop a torrent of verbal abuse poor forth against the remaining Edwards who simply shrugged his shoulders and strolled off in a manner of someone who had heard it all before.
'This is an insult to normal race loving people' moaned locked out Pamela Keen from Widnes 'you never see these so called celebs at any other race meeting here and yet when the Grand National comes to Town then so does every sad celeb and crap act there has ever been. It's a travesty that I get can't in because sodding Timmy Mallett is in their trying to get a brief interview with Clare Balding in a desperate effort to get himself some exposure to revive his piss poor career'.
On hearing this the crowd became even more hostile and started baying for Malletts blood with cries of 'death to Mallett, death to Mallet' being heard all the way down the road leading to the course entrance.
The irony of this being that Mallett was not even in the ground and stuck at home watching it on television after being beaten to a special day pass by Floella Benjamin.
