In an attempt to illustrate there is no hard feeling about loosing in court to ageist claimant Miriam O'Reilly the BBC have offered the ex Country File presenter a place on the next series of Crimewatch.
"We're hoping she'll fill Jill Dando's shoes" one executive informed us. "Like Jill we are hopeful that she will not just report on crime stats but actually become one which can send the rating through the roof."
The BBC are keen to point out that Miss O'Reilly is far more adept at increasing her exposure outside of a show than she was in one. They strongly believe she can do so again with Crimewatch especially as all her private details have been circulated round the majority of London's top violent stalkers.
"The ageism case is no longer in our thoughts." Head of Light entertainment told us. "Although we did learn from Jill's tragic loss that the general public can't stomach seeing another pretty youngish presenters murdered. Miriam will do just fine."
