   Here's a controversial one. Malcolm McLaren ! It’s extremely irritating that all these glowing tributes are pouring out even though everyone detested him when he was alive.

   Jez, I'm inclined to agree with you. For a counterculture "hero" he was far too keen on self-(especially)-publicity. Anarchist? Far too many vested interests. I wasn't impressed at the time; Joe Strummer was my hero, RIP, Joe.

   My nomination? This week and every week while he's in the running: Gove, for threatening to take us back to some imagined golden age of rote learning and touching forelocks to our betters: patronising, dim-witted twat.
