David Cameron announced today that he is sending Nick Clegg and William Hague on a fact-finding tour of Japan's nuclear power stations.
'It's vitally important,' he said, 'that we find out the exact situation regarding the damaged nuclear power plants.
'We need to know if they're leaking huge amounts of deadly radiation, or whether all the radioactive fuel rods have been exposed, or whether, heaven forbid, that the whole thing will explode with the force of a supernova and take everyone in a fifty-mile radius up with it.
'So I've asked Nick and WIlliam to personally investigate, and to take their time and make a very detailed analysis. I've also asked them to take lots of pictures from within the heart of the reactors.'
Craig Oliver, the new government press officer, said: 'We are very sorry to learn that two of our most valued colleagues have tragically - oh hold on, that's next week.'
