following release of it's substantially boiled-down "Birds of Britain" aimed at beginner bird watchers.
"For some years now the population (of bird watchers) has plummeted", said Ruth Hollins Head of Marketing and Membership, in part because of "the bewildering variety of Birds".
"We've all come across 'identification snobbery' in the hide and this can be off-putting for newbies", said Ruth (42).
The new format is a single, laminated A4 sheet with the following designations, together with a blurred picture:-
1. Looks like a sparrow
2. Some sort of hawk
4. Type of duck
5. Its gone now
