hard to think of something more quintessentially english than cricket for the contrast. And 'sternly but silently dissaproving of someone pushing in' didn't scan

I really worry about the Gaelic and the Gallic. What's written down seems to bear little or no relation to what's actually said.
I mean, Toiseach is so much closer to 'teashop' than 'toys-each'....

You're right. And O'Brien is pronounces 'bar-sted'.
Mind you, the same thing happens in English occasionally. 'Mainwaring' is pronounced 'Mannering' and 'the English cricket team' is pronounced 'bunch of hopeless losers.'Posted 2 years ago # -
