Col Muammar Gaddafi has attempted flee Libya by changing his name. However quick-witted passport authorities were wise to the cunning despot's addition of an "h" in his surname.
Passport duty manager Brian Inkling said: "Our suspicions were arroused when a "Mr Gadhafi" presented himself at passport control. The work experience kid thought he recognised the name but the spelling didn't match anything on our list. So, in line with our procedures he raised the alert. The gentleman was clearly used to this sort of confusion, as he was mumbling something about "international recognition". In my opinion, if he wants recognition, he should learn to keep his documents consistent. It might help, that's all".
He added "To be honest, at first I just thought Alan Davies had let himself go".
Later, a Mr Colin Qaddafi eased through border controls, although there was an awkward silence when asked if he had "anything to declare".
