West Mercia Police have confirmed that a 37 year old man has been charged with murder, after the body of a decapitated woman was discovered in Kidderminster.
The woman, identified locally as Sally Truman, was found near the town's Aggborough football ground in the early hours of the morning (Monday). A post mortem examination revealed she'd been beaten and stoned, before having her head cut off.
"This is becoming an all too common occurrence these days." Detective Inspector Simon Walters told reporters. "It seems that the woman was involved in a relationship with a local man who took Valentine's Day too seriously."
"It's been suggested by witnesses that although she had enjoyed what I believe is known as a 'booty call' relationship with a 37 year old man, he was of the understanding that their physical relationship was on a deeper footing than it actually was."
"Quite why whoever did this, did this, is still confusing, Quite what's wrong with a bit of slap and tickle, followed by a box of chocolates and cheap roses from the garage, is beyond me. It's worked for me and Mrs Walters for the last 15 years."
Detectives confirmed that stones and a baseball bat have been confiscated from an address on Chester Road South in the town and the hunt was on for a sharp-bladed, knife like object, probably a knife.
The 37 year old man is due before the town's magistrates court on Tuesday morning.
