The Met POlice have confirmed that money did change hands in a number of phone hacking cases.
'Our investigations have produced conclusive proof that in several cases money was involved in the hacking of someone's phone.
'For instance, Sienna Miller paid a journalist a lot of money to hack into her phone so she could claim to be a celebrity,' he said. 'And as for John Presoctt - well I ask you, who in their right mind would want to ring him up? So he had to pay quite a hefty sum before we could find a journalist who would hack into his phone. And when he got through all he could hear were messages from the pie shop confirming his usual sack of pies for Friday night, and several from Pauline saying that if he even thought of that trollop again she would personally separate him from his dangly bits with the maximum of violence.
'Anyway, it allows these sad people to pretend to be terribly shocked, even though they were desperate to appear important enough to have their phones hacked into.'
