Council leaders, deputy leaders, assistant leaders and co-leaders criticise cuts

Very good! I work for a council so I should know...
I used to work for a left-wing council in London. At my job interview, I asked how many people worked for the council. The answer -'less than 10% of the workforce'. It was only much later that I realised that the boss wasn't actually joking.
Someone managed to get a spoof job advert in the local paper, advertising the post of 'jogging co-ordinator' at a salary of £35,000p.a. The role was to co-ordinate the joggers on Hampstead Heath with a view to reducing the risk of unnecessary collisions between joggers and other members of the public. The post-holder was also intended to ensure that the joggers met diversity targets, i.e. the joggers had to match the ethnic, gender, sexual orientation and disability profile of the borough, with people being fined, for example, for jogging in an overly heterosexist manner.
Amazingly, there were several dozen applications for the 'job'.
As my job was in Budgetary Control, (for a left-wing council, that's a joke in itself) I saw some amazing things being funded, including 'Lesbian sky-diving weekends'. Apparently, Lesbians had to have their own sky-diving weekends as the presence of males, especially heterosexual males, would be 'intimidating.' Now, I've seen the lesbians involved, and believe me there's no way that any male smaller than Mike Tyson could intimidate them. Thankfully, I left for the real world soon after.
