Under-fire Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has insisted he is not ignoring the 9,763,231 ‘pokes’ currently waiting for a response on his Facebook page and has promised to respond to them all, the minute his desk is clear.
Some Egyptians have complained that ‘poking’ the President has proved pretty much pointless over the past few days, with most saying they would probably not bother ‘poking’ him again unless he ‘pokes’ them back fairly soon. Other followers of the social networking site are questioning whether Mubarak is even bothering to check his Facebook page at all these days.
‘I realise running a brutal dictatorship and suppressing a whole nation is time consuming but surely he must have noticed people have been trying to poke him all week’ said one Cairo resident trying to stem the blood from a head wound.
‘Lots of people have been trying to message him all week but he doesn’t seem to be interested any more’
Many Egyptians are worried that Mubarak may be ignoring their ‘pokes’ because he has made new friends elsewhere and no longer regard his fellow countrymen as his friend. To increase speculation still further, the President has not been seen on Facebook chat for over a week. Some Egyptians are blaming Mubarak’s silence on a poor run of results on Happy Island in which the President was deposed as the islands emperor.
Mubarak has even allowed his virtual currency credits with the US to fall into the red, prompting fears that he is about to have his profile deleted permanently at any moment.
The military are on standby....that’s the Egyptian military....not the US military.
No....hold on....it is the US military.
