The Minister for Health, the late Cyril Smith, has announced draconian fines for burger outlets whose customers don't put on weight as a result of their consumption.
'Let's face it,' he said between moughfuls, 'if someone goes into one of these places, stuffs their face with masses of reconstituted gristle, emulsified fat, hydrogenated vegetable fat and enough chips to feed Africa, and then doesn't put on several stone, the place isn't doing its job in producing a generation of overweight kids for the Daily Mail to write why-oh-why articles about. So we're going to weigh everyone when they go in and when they come out, and they'd better be a damn sight heavier on the way out.
'This will also have the benefit of creating extra jobs in the weighing machines industry, as well as in hospitals and morgues.'
