When Egypt closed down the internet denying access to Twitter and Facebook they may have thought their job was done. Yet new media pundits were amazed to see people still protesting. Their world view rocked to the core, that Twitter and Facebook are indispensable to modern life, many have been given counselling to help deal with the trauma. A clinic has created an Iron John style camp in the woods where people can experience what its like to live without the internet. One patient said "It's amazing. I have never talked so much to people face to face. I now no longer think that people have to know my every thought instantly"

As they were not allowed mobile phones they were given big pens and posters to broadcast their feelings and to open up communication channls.
Has anyone noticed that the occasional suicide by someone pouring petrol over themselves has had more political effect that all the suicide bombers put together.
