Newsjack seeking material for new series

I'm going to give it a whirl. It was a drag that no episodes were available via the BBC website, 'cos it's obviously important to hit the right tone, so I found a site that offered all episodes to download. I got up this morning and there they were, nestled in iTunes: 10 solid hours of NewsJack. Thank goodness for illegal file-sharing, eh?
If anyone else wants to submit to NewsJack, I'd be happy to put the episodes onto a CD for them... in return for, oh, a beer voucher, or a CD of something funny. PM me if interested...

Best of luck with that. Let us know how you get on.

Well, so far so good. I've sent my stuff in to meet the 5pm deadline today, and will now listen to NewsJack on Thursday with more than usual interest...

Hot news via Twitter.
"RT @NewsjackBBC: Friday lunchtime we'll hold a Q&A Webchat. Link here: http://bbc.in/newsjackchat"
Doylem, good luck. Otherwise you can tune in and find out why your work was rejected. (I gave up after the second series.)

Good luck Doylem! If they do what they did last time out, there'll be a list of the writers that have got stuff on on the website from about 6 on the day of broadcast.
In the past I found it was a real time saver in being able to get the wailing and gnashing of teeth out of the way at a sensible hour and not have to stay up past my bedtime with the millions of other Newsjack fans to hear that they've not used my stuff. Of course, if you do get soemthing on, that means you've got loads of time to make sure everyone knows about it...

My in-depth research certainly paid off: they didn't use anything I sent...

Really? That's a shame.

Bad luck Doylem. They say persistence is the secret to this sort of stuff. At least I'm using my lack of it to explain never having got anywhere close with these BBC open calls. Better luck next week!

When I was first attempting to get topical sketches on Week Ending (about the partition of India, the end of rationing etc) my experience was that I never ever got a single sketch used if it was posted in, but the stuff that was flagged up at the open writers' meetings and then handed in personally often stood a good chance. If you are in a position to get to an actual recording it is worth it. And don't forget that stuff that you have written for NewsBiscuit belongs to you and can still be submitted to the BBC even if it made the front page along with any extra jokes we may have added.
Best of luck and remember; they laughed when I said I was going to be a comedy writer.

@Doylem. Just listening to last weeks Newsjack on the Interweb. Sure I heard one of yours: Ref to pre-installed tick boxes on confessional app - Tick Thou art a smug tosser with an iPhone.
I expect the cheque is in the post.Posted 10 years ago # -
"Tick Thou art a smug tosser with an iPhone."
That was my favourite line of the show.
