Following the decision that Kate Middleton will wear Princess Diana´s engagement ring, plans have been announced to allow the royal honeymooners to wear the same all-inclusive wristbands worn by the Princess and Dodo Al Fayad during their 10-day stay at the three-star resort in Playa de las Americas in Tenerife in 1996.
The bands, which give entitlement to unlimited food, beers wines and spirits are considrered to be one of the most valuable artifacts of the Diana ere, provided that drinks are consumed before 10.30pm after which a surcharge becomes payable.
The couple will be presented with the historic wristbands in a moving ceremony shortly after check-in and attending a ´No obligations´ event to learn of the benefits of timeshare ownership in the resort. In addition the royal couple will be presented with a free return holiday at the resort provided that are able to introduce a friend to attend a similar event later in 2011. It is understood that former Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, has accepted the invitation to be the nominated friend.
Prince Harry is expected to raise the toast to the happy couple following the ceremony with the traditional royal address ´Íf one is to be pissed, show one one´s wrist. Buckingham Palace denied that plans to allow comedian Julian Clary to raise the toast were abandoned following a formal risk assessment and discussions with former Chancellor Norman Lamont.
