Brentford FC have submitted plans to make use of facilities from the 2012 Olympics once the games are over. They intend to take over the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, leading to them draining Portland Harbour and simply concreting it over.
A spokesman said, "This is a plan that suits all sides. We won't be closer than 30 miles to any existing Premier or Football League teams and the costs of a new development in South West London are extortionate. We will look to improve transport links for our existing fans and we hope they can get to the coast in less than 3 days using South West Trains. From there, it's just a short hitch-hike down the A354. It means a loss of facilities for the sailing community but, let's be honest, who cares about them!"
