Prototypes of a souvenir mug, featuring the profiles of William and Kate intwined inside a heart created from flowers, birds and honey bees, are being recalled for failing the standard test of good taste and sentimentality, applied to all royal souvenirs before they can go on sale. “It’s a simple test”, says Ralph Twissleton-Smyth, Scratcher of the Royal Scrotum, whose strenuous palace duties include the vetting of commemorative crockery. “If it’s something I could imagine displaying on my mantlepiece, then it’s just not kitsch enough”...
