Has anyone else seen the news story today about a Scottish Footballer arrested over serious sexual assault? Although a difficult topic, with the arrested man called Goodwillie maybe one of you has an idea?

Tsk, it's Dundee United, not Dundee. Jeni B will be round to sort you out later.

Thank you Oxy.
Indeed, there is a major difference between the two, and don't forget it. It's akin to referring to Manchester City or United as just Manchester. The player in question is named Goodwillie, a fact which has led to numerous jokes in the stands across the road.
(For those who are not as enlightened as Oxy, both Dundee, and Dundee United have their grounds on the same street, although on opposite sides, and we are renowned for our good-natured derby games, where fans from opposing sides will travel to the match together, shout massive abuse at each other during the game, and then go for a pint together afterwards.)Posted 2 years ago # -

I don't know if there's any footall, and we're certainly not one of Apple Corps new products, but we do play football in Scotland.

Is there such an offence as "amusing sexual assault" or even "ironic sexual assault"?

Many years ago I was a mid-teenager holidaying in Devon. Late at night one of our group was asked by one of another group and in a gravelly "Doctor" John Reid voice, which football team he supported.
A little knowledge can be a dangerous thing. Rightly identifying the accent as being from the European centre of cultural excellence and tolerance he responded in a weak voice "err... Glasgow?" He was not up to a more discriminating assessment with which to answer the obvious follow-up question.
Fortunately our Mk2 Ford Zodiac could outrun whatever shed it was they were driving.
Left me with a lasting affection for the townspeople; Reid didn't help if I'm being honest.
